Mona Vale Gatehouse
The Canterbury earthquakes severely damaged the heritage-listed historic building in 2011.
The tall, narrow building shook back and forth. Both brick-and-plaster chimneys fell, one crashing through the sunroom roof and floor.
Plaster Works replastered the exterior of the building and chimneys, using a roughcast plaster finish to match the original. All decorative plaster details were then hand made and applied in a similar manner as the originals would have been done.
The restored building now looks almost identical to the original, and restored to 67% of the new Building Code. It is in better condition than when originally built.
